Help us build something better for philosophers figuring out what comes next
Leaving academic philosophy, or even considering it, can be disorienting. It was for us. There’s remarkably little good guidance for figuring out what else you might do, how your experience translates, where to look, or how to actually make the transition.
We’ve spent years working on this problem: making the transition ourselves, helping and mentoring other philosophers, running workshops, teaching career skills, and learning what seems to help and where people keep getting stuck.
What we’re building
Philosophy Works is our attempt to bring that work together and make it available to many more people. We’re building something to help people explore possible paths, understand how their experience might translate, learn what they need, and get useful guidance as their situation changes.
The Career Transition Log is part of how we’re building it. We want to understand the transition while people are actually going through it, rather than guessing afterward about what they needed.
By keeping a short private log of what’s happening in your own transition, you’ll create a record for yourself and help us build Philosophy Works around the problems people actually encounter.
What does participating involve?
Add a short entry whenever something happens that feels worth recording.
That might be an application or interview, a conversation with someone, something you tried, something that worked, getting stuck, changing your mind, or just feeling differently about what comes next.
An entry can take only a few minutes. There’s no minimum length, no required schedule, and you can stop at any time.
Become a Founding Participant
Participants who contribute 6 or more entries over at least 4 weeks will become Founding Participants of Philosophy Works.
Founding Participants will get early access to Philosophy Works when it launches, along with a meaningful discount on an eligible future paid offering.
